What Silkstone Barbies are the most rare?
I'm looking to buy a Christmas present, and I want it to be really special. Most of the silkstones the pseron I'm buying for are the less expensive ones. While they're just as gorgeous as the others, I'd like to get her something a little more collectible. So my question, what Silkstone barbie slightly rarer, but still not extremely expensive? My budget is no more than $100. I'm willing to buy from Ebay.

The older Silkstones such as Fashion Designer & Fashion Editor tend to be a bit harder to find & the prices can vary. The Platinum Label Silkstones such as the FAO Redhead Joyeaux, Dahlia & Violette (dealer exclusives) are also harder to find, but tend to cost more than $100.00. Your best bet is to search on ebay for Silkstone Barbies & see what is there that might be in your price range. Be aware, however, that many of the earlier Silkstone dolls are developing "green ear" as a result of the metal earrings that Mattel uses. I have nearly all of the Silkstones & several them have green staining on their ears, even after I took out their earrings (which is not one of the easier projects I have taken on) in nearly 10 years of doll collecting.
